The Maciço das Prateleiras, located in the Itatiaia National Park (RJ), is famous among mountaineers for its treks and climbing routes. At 2,539 meters above sea level, its rock formations in ascending levels make it ideal for climbing. The hike to the summit is 6 km, with a moderate level up to the base, and a difficult section towards the top, requiring scrambling and, in some spots, the use of ropes. At the top, you can do a nearly 60-meter rappel, which is challenging and includes a negative descent. It’s essential to have good physical conditioning and not be afraid of heights to take on this adventure.

BLACK NEEDLES
The Pico das Agulhas Negras, located in the Itatiaia National Park (RJ), is the highest point in the park, standing at 2,791.6 meters, and the 5th highest in Brazil. Very popular among mountaineers, it offers various trekking routes and climbing paths. The hike to the summit is 6 km, with a moderate difficulty level up to the base and a difficult section towards the top, requiring scrambling and, in some parts, the use of ropes. The reward for the effort is the stunning view of the Vale do Paraíba and the Serra da Mantiqueira.
